SESSION I:
Basic Training in Color and Drawing
The most fundamental skills upon which painting is based: Color and Drawing.
Demonstration and practice of the poster study, a practical method of learning to see, mix and apply color.
Figure drawing, the foundation of portrait and still life drawing.
Demonstration and practice of the BLOCKIN-IN, the operating system of the drawing process.
Demonstration and practice, from start to finish, of the entire developmental process of creating a highly defined figure drawing.
SESSION II:
Portrait Painting and Drawing
Demonstration and practice of “form painting,” from start to finish, of the entire developmental process of creating a highly defined portrait painting .
Portrait drawing in pencil: application of the principles of drawing, as per Session I, to the portrait.
SESSION III:
Intensive Portrait Painting
Practice of the whole portrait painting method, as per Session II.
Demonstration and practice of the direct method of form painting on toned ground.
SESSION IV:
Still Life Painting
Practice of the whole form painting method applied to still life.
Composition demonstration: block-in and poster studies from “The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Tulp” by Rembrandt.
