2022 PORTRAIT PAINTING WORKSHOP SYLLABUS

JULY 11 – 22

Students work on a single portrait for two weeks.

Classes at the Ryder Studio meet Monday through Friday, 
from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM
and 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM.

Week 1

Mon. July 11
9:30 – 12:30: 3-hour Lecture/Demo: Introduction to painting materials and poster study
12:30 – 1:30: Lunch
1:30 – 4:30: Students practice (poster study)


Tues. July 12

9:30 – 11:30: 2-hour lecture/demo: Charcoal drawing
11:30 – 11:45: Long break
11:45 – 12:30: Students practice (poster study or charcoal drawing)
12:30 – 1:30: Lunch
1:30 – 4:30: Students practice (poster study or charcoal drawing)


Weds. July 13
9:30 – 11:30: 2-hour lecture/demo: Charcoal drawing + Ink-in 
11:30 – 11:45: Long break
11:45 – 12:30: Students practice (charcoal drawing)
